We have four core volunteer roles — choose what fits your skills and availability.
Field Coordinator
Manage daily operations in one of our 37 communities — coordinating meals, elder visits, and school walks. Requires a driving licence and at least 2 days per week.
Community Cook
Prepare daily meals in school kitchens using AGS-provided ingredients. Training provided — no professional cooking experience needed. Morning commitment.
School Tutor
Support teachers in AGS partner schools with literacy, numeracy, and English. Secondary school education is the minimum requirement. One to three sessions per week.
Elder Transport Driver
Transport enrolled elders to local clinics, pharmacies, and community gatherings. Valid driving licence and a reliable vehicle required. Flexible scheduling.

Commitment
Minimum 3-month commitment with a consistent weekly schedule agreed at orientation.
Background check
All volunteers working with children or elders must provide two references and pass a background check.
Orientation training
All volunteers attend a one-day orientation at AGS HQ in Dar es Salaam before deployment.

It helps but is not required. We have bilingual coordinators at every site, and many of our partner communities have English-speaking leaders.
You must be 18 or over to volunteer independently. Under-18s may volunteer at supervised community events with a parent or guardian.
No. We provide full orientation training before your first deployment. Specialist roles like nursing or teaching do require relevant qualifications.
Volunteering is unpaid. However, we cover all transport to and from field sites, provide daily meals on field days, and issue a certificate of service.
We review applications on a rolling basis. You typically receive a response within 5 working days and can begin after orientation, which runs monthly.
Yes. We have remote roles in communications, grant writing, social media, and data analysis. These are listed separately on the roles page.
Most roles require 4–8 hours per week. Some specialist roles ask for 2–3 days per week. All commitments are agreed at orientation.
Absolutely. Corporate and school groups are welcome to run community days or fundraising events with AGS. Contact us to arrange a group placement.
Join the M-Koba Welfare Circle
A monthly community savings and welfare group — contribute TSH 5,000 each month and be part of a growing support network, managed through M-Koba.
Monthly Contribution
Pay your monthly contribution directly through M-Koba. Records are kept automatically and a PDF statement is generated each cycle.

AGS SOCIAL FUND
This form collects important information about the members of our community mutual-support fund. Its main purpose is to record your full details, your dependents and confirmation of your membership. The fund exists so that members support one another when unforeseen problems arise, such as illness or the death of a dependent, and to bless joyful occasions such as a wedding or the birth of a child.
